HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!
Proverbs 15:29b
. . . He heareth the prayer of the righteous.
Here in the U.S. this weekend is set aside to honor the brave men and women who have served in the armed services and fought for our country. We remember the living and dead, those who served in years gone by, and those who currently wear the uniform of the United States military.
In all the busyness of everyday life, it’s easy for those of us here at home to forget to pray for the men and women who are serving our country in more than difficult circumstances right at this very moment. And even when we do remember to ask God to watch over and protect them we often fail to express our gratitude to them for their willingness to defend our country’s freedoms.
A little poem puts it this way:
God and a soldier all people adore
In time of war, but not before;
And when war is over and all things are righted,
God is neglected and an old soldier is slighted.
Here is a link to a brief video clip that provides us with a way to say “thank you” to our soldiers whenever we have a chance: www.gratitudecampaign.org/shortmovie.php. It’s worth the few minutes of your time to watch it.
As you celebrate Memorial Day weekend, please take time to pray for our troops. Remember their families here at home and do something kind for those you know personally. Make this weekend truly a time of remembering and saying “Thank You,” to the Lord, and to those who have served or are currently serving to protect our great nation.
Blessed Lord, we lift our voices in praise and prayer for the many men and women who are valiantly defending our nation’s freedoms. We pray for their protection and an awareness of Your presence to be with them each hour of each day. We remember their families here at home and ask You to bless and keep them as well. We lift up to you those who were injured and are living with disabilities. God, we ask You to honor each one who has ever served our military forces.
