THANKSGIVING FOR GOD'S PROVISIONS
Psalm 100
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.
Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
In Psalm 100, we read some wonderfully encouraging words. The Psalmist wrote, "Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations."
As we read these verses we think of giving thanks to the Lord, recognizing the blessings of rain and sunshine and the freedom we have in our country, family, friends and good health. Whatever our blessings are, we often give God thanks especially at this Thanksgiving season. That is what we need to be doing. That is why our founding fathers set aside this day in America.
You know, the Psalm says to serve the Lord with gladness, come with singing, remember that He made us, and also remember that His goodness and mercy are everlasting. As we are thankful for those things, did you know we can find a cure for anxiety?
In Phillippians 4:6-7 Paul wrote,"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication , with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
I encourage you this Thanksgiving season to get rid of your worry and anxiety by seeing God as our great provider - all we need for every need. Let that thought cure your anxiety, and give thanks. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord! Serve Him with gladness! Come before His presence with singing! Happy Thanksgiving!
