CCES offers life coaching from Dr. Tim Shorb. These life coaching services are available in our Hanover, PA office for local clients, as well as by phone for those in other areas.

What is Life Coaching All About?

Is coaching the same as counseling? No, it isn’t. Counseling looks primarily at the past; coaching looks to the future. Counseling asks “How did I get to where I am today?;” coaching asks “How can I get to where I want to be in the future?” Counseling seeks therapeutic answers to problems and crises in life; coaching seeks the implementation of tools for greater success in life and the discovery of a life purpose.

Americans are familiar with how coaches help athletes achieve greater success on the field or in the gym; Christian life coaches help believers achieve greater success in their Christian life and ministry. Life coaches do not give their clients all the answers; they help guide the clients to discover the answers for themselves and then serve as an accountability partner to help assure their clients experience success.

While coaching can take place face-to-face in an office setting, like counseling, it is often done by telephone. Therefore, the Christian life coach may have clients in many geographical areas.

What are Dr. Tim Shorb’s Coaching Specialties?

Just as a good football coach may not be a good golf coach, or a good baseball coach, Christian life coaches are better in some arenas than in others, depending upon their life experiences and training.

What are Dr. Tim Shorb’s specialties in life coaching?

• Financial Coaching, involving debt reduction, budgeting, and personal financial success.
• Ministry Coaching, especially helping Christian educators and missionaries who are facing challenges or changes in their ministry (see Tim's article, When Missionairies Need a Coach).
• Career Coaching, guiding young people making career choices and helping more mature folks navigate through career changes and transitions.
• Men’s Personal Coaching, helping men achieve greater success in their personal and spiritual lives, including moving on to the next level of success over past failures or addictions.

About Dr. Tim Shorb

Timothy B. Shorb holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education, the Doctor of Religious Education degree, and the Ph.D. degree in Church Administration. His wealth of experience in Christian leadership and ministry—34 years in missions and missions administration—give him a platform from which to coach others as they seek to be all that they can be for God.

In his coaching role, Dr. Tim Shorb has a burden to help individuals and couples attain the highest level of achievement and blessing possible from God. He is a graduate of Light University’s Life Coaching program and is a “Certified Life Coach,” receiving his certification from the American Association of Christian Counselors.
